WashU faculty named to American Cancer Society Council


Dr. Sarah Gehlert, professor at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis, has been named to the Council for Extramural Grants at the American Cancer Society. The Council sets the payline for committees and advises the ACS on research policy and health-professional training.

Dr. Gehlert is the E. Desmond Lee Professor of Racial and Ethnic Diversity at the Brown School and Professor in the Department of Surgery at the School of Medicine. She is also a scholar in Washington University’s Institute of Public Health and serves on its Faculty Advisory Committee.

She recently cycled off the Board of Scientific Counselors at the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health after a five-year term.
