Open to practicing professionals as well as graduate students, the Brown School’s inaugural Summer Institute offers classes to build attendees’ capacity in communications, data analysis, leadership and management. Sessions will be held June 13-17 and June 20-24.
“We selected a range of courses to help practicing professionals and up-and-coming leaders to make an immediate impact on their effectiveness as agents of change,” said Janet Gillow, director of the Brown School’s Professional Development programming. “Whether your role is in organizational leadership or research and evaluation, these skills are vital to supporting healthy individuals, families and communities.”
Data courses include Introduction to GIS and Spatial Mapping, as well as several types of statistical analysis. The institute’s communication course is designed to enhance skills and effectiveness when communicating ideas and information to professional and public audiences. Leadership and Management course topics include grantwriting, managing people, program and project management, and strategic planning and execution.
