The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity promotes dialogue, organizes programming, and develops student support resources that foster a more welcoming community. Tonya Edmond, our associate dean for diversity, inclusion and equity, leads this work. Career Services builds connections for students to their professional careers. Attend a Career Community to meet with faculty, staff and community leaders in a particular area, or join for one of their skills-based workshops, such as resume-building and offer-negotiating. Staff also offer individualized support during their regular one-on-one advising hours. The Office of Field Education guides students through the practicum process — from identifying a fitting practicum opportunity to making the most of your learning experience — via coordinated practicum fairs and personalized advising. The Office of Financial Aid provides guidance for funding your graduate degree, including support for navigating FAFSA, federal student loans and federal work-study. The StatLab, formed in direct response to student feedback, organizes a network of peer instructors to offer statistical and methodological support for your quantitative coursework. The Communication Lab offers workshops and small-group or one-on-one advising for written and presentation projects. Student groups connect students to leadership opportunities, programming, as well as advocacy and service opportunities. They’re a key part of our vibrant campus life. The Brown School Library provides access to a large collection of social work and public health texts, as well as a broad online database. Our Professional Development program offers workshops and trainings nearly every week, helping students, alumni and professionals build new skills and stay in touch with advances in evidence-based practice.
