Applicants with Advanced Standing

Students who have earned a bachelor's degree in public health from a regionally accredited US institution or CEPH-accredited international institution within the last six years may be eligible to enter the Brown School's MPH program with Advanced Standing Status. 

Applicants with advanced standing may apply between 3-9 credits from their undergraduate coursework to MPH foundation-level coursework at the Brown School. Students with Advanced Standing complete at least 43 credit hours in the Brown School's MPH Program. Students entering with 9 credits of advanced standing may complete the MPH on an accelerated timeline.

Additional Application Instructions 

Be sure to indicate that you are applying for Advanced Standing status in your application for admission. After you submit your application to SOPHAS, you will receive an email from the Office of Admissions & Recruitment requesting that you fill out a short form to share more about your bachelor's degree. You will also be asked to indicate which foundation-level courses you'd like to be considered for Advanced Standing status at the Brown School.

 Your form will be reviewed once it and any support documentation has been submitted. 

If admitted, you will receive an update about your advanced standing status in your admissions decision letter.
