Part-Time MSW Applicants

The Part-Time MSW program is intended for students who need the flexibility to take courses at times that do not interfere with work and other commitments. Students must be available to attend classes in person on campus, either once a week in the evening or over multiple weekend sessions, depending on the semester.

The part-time program can be completed in three to three and a half years. Students enrolled in the program must be prepared to take at least two classes a semester in addition to completing practicum hours at their chosen field site starting in year two. A full schematic of the curriculum schedule can be found here.

Students in the part-time program may pursue the clinical social work track in the Mental Health concentration, the Children, Youth & Families concentration, or the Social Impact Leadership concentration. Students can also choose to use their elective credit hours to earn an optional specialization, as long as the required courses are offered at times that work well for the student.

Specialization courses are scheduled for the full-time MSW program which includes day-time, in-person coursework. Thus, students wishing to take specific elective courses may have to take them during the day, as evening and weekend courses will not be available for all classes.

Those who have earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited institution may apply to the part-time program with advanced standing status. Reach out to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment to learn more about which concentrations are eligible for part-time advanced standing.

International students are not eligible for the Part-Time MSW program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents in order to be eligible to apply.
