Admitted Students Weekend

On April 3 & 4, 2020, join the Brown School for Admitted Students Weekend. This immersive weekend visit will introduce you to the community that will define your time at the Brown School. 

Spend two days walking in our hallways, meeting our faculty, exploring campus and St. Louis, as well as talking with current students and members of your cohort. Admitted Students Weekend is a one-of-a-kind way to get to know the vast opportunities available to Brown School students. 

MPH Students: Your programming begins in the evening of Thursday, April 2. While this first evening is optional, we would love if you could join. Learn more on the registration page.

You can find the tentative itinerary here. Highlights of the weekend include:

meeting our faculty:

  • Attend a faculty lecture
  • MSW Students: Faculty panels will discuss the ways our MSW curriculum prepares students for clinical, micro, mezzo, macro and policy-level impact
  • MPH Students: Meet the faculty who chair each of our STEM-designated curriculums, and hear them discuss the particulars of the specializations.


  • Tour the Brown School and/or wider Washington University campus
  • Ask your questions at the current student panel
  • Having meaningful and transparent conversations with current students
  • Visit the research center and student group fair
  • Attend a session with the Social System Design Lab
  • Space to meet and talk with current student affinity groups
  • Proficiency exam sessions (separate registration required; additional information below)

​Proficiency exams:

Proficiency exams will be offered at Admitted Students Weekend over the course of two sessions on Friday morning. 

Session 1: 8:00 am - 10:00 am | Session 2: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. 


All Admitted Students Weekend attendees are eligible to take proficiency exams. Pre-registration is required for proficiency exams and space is limited. 

To register, first submit your registration for Admitted Students Weekend and then complete the Proficiency Exam Registration form

We will send additional information about the exam process closer to Admitted Students Weekend.

proficiency exam policies:

Students are encouraged to thoroughly review Proficiency Exam policies before registering to take the exams. 


Exams will be reviewed once you have confirmed your intent to enroll and submitted your non-refundable $200 advance-tuition deposit. Once your intent to enroll has been submitted, please allow two weeks for exams to be reviewed and results to be issued.

Eligible students whose schedules do not allow them to take the exam on Friday of Admitted Students Weekend may elect to take exams on select Mondays and Fridays throughout spring and summer. More information about eligibility and exams scheduling is available on the Proficiency Exam page.
