Brown School Facilities

The Brown School’s three-building complex is located on the east end of Washington University’s Danforth campus, just beside Washington University’s signature landmark, Brookings Hall.

The recent addition of Hillman Hall — an innovative, LEED Platinum-certified space — as well as renovations to Brown and Goldfarb Halls, help us cultivate a community of health and wellness, promote environmental sustainability, and empower learning, research and collaboration.

Our facilities are designed to help you make the most of your time on campus. Group study rooms located throughout Hillman, Brown and Goldfarb Halls may be reserved online for group meetings or independent study. Student support resources are grouped primarily in Brown Hall, offering convenient access to the StatLab, Communications Lab, Library and more.

The Brown School offers 17 classrooms equipped with technology and flexible furnishings for a variety of teaching and learning styles. Our premier gathering spaces, the Clark-Fox Forum and Brown Lounge, promote the Brown School’s ability to host community partners, leading researchers and others guests, and increase the Brown School community’s access to these important conversations.

Hillman Hall also provides more than 20,000 square-feet of space dedicated to research centers and programs. Staff and faculty from the School’s 14 research centers work closely together, and glass-walled offices and open work stations offer opportunities for collaboration.

Bike parking is available outside each building. On-site showers and changing rooms in Hillman make active commuting — or midday workouts at the university’s Sumers Recreation Center — more convenient, and personal lockers allow you to stow belongings or books. Gender-inclusive restrooms and an infant nursing space are also available.

All four levels of Hillman Hall offer ample light and green space, including two sunny interior gardens and a green roof, the Caleres Lounge and Garden Terrace. At the Brown School you’ll find a welcoming, comfortable, collaborative setting that allows for spontaneous interactions — opening opportunities for your next big idea or newest friendship.
