In this GIS course, participants will be introduced to the visual storytelling and data analysis power of creating maps. We begin with the examples of community agencies utilizing GIS to evaluate their programming and development efforts. We will explore free online resources, including what data is available and at what scale (zip code, city, county). The industry’s leading software, ArcGIS, will be used to build a simple, agency-specific, map. Participants will work in small groups on computers to complete workshop exercises. Class size is limited to 28.
