Jessica Kuchta-Miller, JD, MA
Staff Ombudsperson, Washington University

Inevitably, individuals in leadership roles will face conflict. Often, a leader’s effectiveness depends on their ability to manage conflict successfully. Using the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument, an assessment tool that explores five basic conflict handling modes, participants in this interactive session will examine their own preferred conflict styles in relation to others
and carefully consider characteristics, behaviors, advantages, and disadvantages of different styles.

Participants will explore how the overuse and underuse of each style impacts communication, problem solving, and the breadth of depth of their own conflict repertoire.

Class size is limited to 30.
