Seniors who are LGBT have seen great changes in their lifetimes regarding awareness and social acceptance of their sexual orientations. Yet LGBT older adults remain less likely to access health and social services than straight adults and experience health disparities as a result.

Explore practices for helping LGBT older adults to feel more included in your programs. We’ll examine judgments and assumptions, myths and misinformation, using role playing and dialogue to practice supporting inclusion and addressing bias. Participants will learn how to review and change policies, practices, procedures, and forms to be more inclusive. Class size is limited to 30.

Note: This workshop meets the Illinois licensure requirement for continuing education in cultural competence.
