Transition from being a childless couple to being parents causes a renegotiation of roles between partners. This can result in strife or dissatisfaction, even between people who are deeply committed to their relationship. Through participation in experiential learning exercises, viewing video demonstration, and having group discussion, learn research-based practices for helping partners stay connected and satisfied by productively resolving conflict in their relationship while navigating the transition to parenthood. This seminar will also provide information on techniques parents can use to help foster a healthy attachment with their child(ren). Content from Drs. John and Julie Gottman's "Bringing Baby Home Program" curriculum, the Family Wellness:Survival Skills for Healthy Families" curriculum, and Daniel Siegel's "Parenting From the Inside Out" will be used. Class size is limited to 40.
