Leader as Communicator

Registration deadline: June 7th

15 CEUs/CPH units

Bob Mai, EdD
Principal, Stakeholder Insights
Adjunct Faculty, Brown School

Whether leading a team or whole organization, a leader’s effectiveness is highly dependent on his or her communication skills to share vision and convey expectations.

This class will help leaders strengthen their skills by focusing on these three dimensions of leadership: building trust and community, navigating through change, and facilitating renewal and innovation.  We will cover facilitation skills to include conducting effective meetings, as well as skills the leader can employ to enhance the sense of membership among work teams and create buy-in to navigate through organizational change.  Finally, we consider tactics for effective formal communications, such as presentations and interacting with the media.

Class size is limited to 16.

$650 General admission
$450 Non-profit/government employees (1st Summer Institute class)
$400 Non-profit/government employees (Additional Summer Institute classes)

This class will include both degree-seeking graduate students and practicing professionals. Individuals registering through Professional Development will receive continuing education units - but not academic credit - for the class.

Recommended reading purchase of The Leader as Communicator by Mai/Akerson is optional.
