Whether you are aspiring to your first people management role or just looking to be a better, more effective manager, management of people relies on skills that can be learned. These include building a culture, selecting and orienting job applicants, motivating and supporting employees, measuring work performance, and leading teams.  The course includes
group exercises and applied practice scenarios.

Class size is limited to 24.

$650 General admission
$450 Non-profit/government employees (1st Summer Institute class)
$400 Non-profit/government employees (Additional Summer Institute classes)

This class will include both degree-seeking graduate students and practicing professionals. Individuals registering through Professional Development will receive continuing education units - but not academic credit - for the class.

Recommended reading purchase of Strategic Supervision by Peter J Pecora is optional.

About the Instructor:

Krista Junge.jpgKrista Junge is an instructional designer, teacher, facilitator, and organizational development consultant with over 20 years of experience. She currently serves as Senior Manager at the BJC Leadership Development Center, which supports 13 hospitals and service organizations as they develop their leaders. Her responsibilities include programs offered at BJC's Learning Institute as well as support for efforts implemented within the hospital or service organization.  Krista is a member of the Brown School's adjunct faculty.  Her past experience includes working with adults with developmental disabilities and developing programs for volunteers.  She holds a Master's degree in education from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, with a focus in instructional design.
