Preparing for a Difficult Conversation

Preferred registration deadline: November 30th

3 CEUs

Jessica Kuchta-Miller, JD, MA
Staff Ombudsperson, Washington University

Wanting to avoid difficult conversations is normal, but putting them off usually does nothing to resolve the presenting issue
or tension. In fact, procrastination can make it harder to resolve the problem you need to discuss.

In this highly interactive workshop, participants will explore what gets in their way of having a difficult conversation and learn how to constructively navigate such conversations. Participants will learn ways of anticipating and dealing with emotions,
how to confront tough topics, and how to adjust in the moment to ensure the conversation goes as smoothly as possible.

Class size is limited to 45.

$50 General Admission
$30 Discounted Admission**
$10 Washington University Full-Time Graduate Students

**Discounted Admission is offered to current Brown School field instructors, Brown School adjunct faculty, recent Brown School graduates (2016-2018), full-time graduate students from other universities, and Washington University faculty and staff.
