Brown School Professional Development provides a constantly changing array of courses and programming.

Focused on key areas of clinical practice, management, and evaluation, our programs serve professionals in social work, public health and related fields. We lead the professional community in commitment to innovation, renewal of skills, and integration of new learning into daily practice.

Our workshop series offers weekly trainings throughout the year, usually in a convenient Friday format. Taught by respected local professionals, Brown School faculty, and visiting instructors, our workshops address a wide range of topics and competencies covering the latest research, evidence-based interventions, management, self-care, suicide prevention, ethics and more.

Our Intensive Training Institutes, offered periodically throughout the year, provide professionals with opportunities to engage in more in-depth training and practice for a wide range of skills. These courses may take place over the course of a week or weekend, and often involve application of knowledge to facilitate the learning process in such areas as research methods, statistical analysis, therapeutic treatment, community organizing and more.

Brown School faculty have developed online lectures addressing specific areas of social work and public health practice. Videos can be streamed on-demand, so you can learn — and, for select lectures, earn CEUs — at a time and place convenient for you.

Each June, the Brown School offers a selection of five-day courses designed to build specific skills in evaluation, management, policy, and statistical analysis. The focused, results-oriented coursework appeals to Brown School alumni,  working practitioners and academics, as well as graduate students.

LCSW Supervisors Training Now Open for Registration   March 12 & 13, 2020

Mentoring the next generation of clinicians is one of the most rewarding ways seasoned social workers can contribute the future of our field and the access of future clients to quality care. This 16-hour course presents a detailed, in-depth look at the major models and stages of supervision, including supervision methods and techniques. This workshop is designed to meet the Missouri requirement of supervisory training that LCSW's need to supervise new clinicians toward licensure.
