Hilary is a social worker, writer, and policy researcher originally from Northern New England. Since receiving her MSW from the University of Maine, Hilary has been working on preventing and reducing homelessness for youth aging out of foster care through youth-lead strategies in Denver, Colorado. Hilary’s background in direct service with individuals and families informs her focus on community-based research. Her work explores the intersection of substance use, harm reduction, and homelessness through a lens of anti-oppression and antiracism. Hilary is a pre-doctoral fellow in the NIDA Transdisciplinary Training in Addictions Research (TranSTAR) T32 program, designed to explore and innovate prevention, treatment, and policies related to substance misuse with particular focus on underserved racial, ethnic, sexual and gender minority groups.
