Kyria Brown

Kyria is a PhD in Social Work student as well as a Spencer T. and Ann W. Olin Fellow. She graduated with a BA (2017) in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of Wyoming where she was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. Kyria graduated with a MSW (2020) with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and Policy Practice from the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver and a MPH (2020) with a concentration in Health Equity in Maternal Child Health from the Colorado School of Public Health at University of Colorado-Anschutz. Her research focuses on perinatal harm reduction and doulas as an intervention to increase birth equity and reduce birth trauma, especially for birthing people who use substances. Her research interests are informed, at least partially, by her past experience as a birth doula.
