The Brown School orientation sessions give students the opportunity to connect, learn and engage within the Brown School. Orientation is required for incoming students.

Brown School Pre-Online Orientation – Complete by Aug. 18
Get Your Bearings is a university online orientation where you will learn about various resources and offices at WashU and the Brown School, as well as hear from current students, faculty and staff about the WashU experience. You will explore different topic areas through modules. The program will take you approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours to complete and you can complete it at your own pace and return to it as often as you need. You must complete get Get Your Bearings by Friday, August 18, 2023.

Brown School New Student Orientation Aug. 23 – 25
The Brown School New Student Orientation will be on the Danforth campus from Wednesday, August 23 through Friday, August 25, 2023. New Student Orientation is designed to give you a deeper understanding of our curriculum and the resources and programs available at the Brown School.
Required for full time incoming Brown School MSW/MPH/MSP students; optional sessions for students in the Part-Time MSW program and PhD program.

Part-Time MSW New Student Orientation Aug. 25
The Brown School is pleased to offer a Part-Time MSW program for individuals wishing to advance their careers in clinical mental health. The Part-Time New Student Orientation will be on Friday, August 25 on the Danforth Campus. The Part-Time MSW New Student Orientation will offer students the opportunity to understand the curriculum, resources, and support that are available at the Brown School. International Student Orientation Aug. 21-22
The Brown School’s mandatory International Student Orientation will be held on Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22 in the Clark Fox Forum in Hillman Hall. More details will be posted soon.

Buder Student Orientation Aug. 22
This orientation is required for incoming and current Buder Center students. Students will meet the staff at the Center and learn about their roles and responsibilities. Students will discover what it means to be a Buder scholar, available resources offered through the Center and academic responsibilities and opportunities. There is time to hear more about each other, the community and local alumni. More details will be posted soon.

PhD Incoming Student Orientation Aug. 24-25
This PhD Incoming Student Orientation is required for all incoming Brown School Social Work and Public Health PhD students. This orientation will offer students the opportunity to understand the curriculum, resources, and support that are available at the Brown School. Further details will be emailed to incoming PhD students.

WashU Events for Incoming Graduate Students
Incoming Graduate and Professional Student Resources Fair & Fare hosted by The Graduate Center
Sunday, August 20 from 5:00-6:30pm CST
Incoming graduate and professional students from all schools are invited to learn about university resources available to our graduate and professional students and designed to support your academic journey and professional development. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about university-wide graduate student organizations and how to get involved – all while enjoying a variety of St. Louis fare!

New Student Campus Walking Tours hosted by The Graduate Center
Tours will be offered at 9 am and 3 pm on August 16, 18, 23 and 25
(August 23 conflicts with Brown School New Student Orientation)
Join The Graduate Center staff for a walking tour of Danforth Campus, from the East End to the Athletic Complex. Highlights will include Olin Library, the Sumers Rec Center, Habif Health and Wellness, and of course, The Graduate Center! Additionally, representatives from Parking & Transportation office will be on hand to share information and strategize with students on how best to access campus.
Tours will last approximately 90 minutes and are open to all incoming graduate and professional students.
