Matthew W. Kreuter is a leading national expert in the fields of health communication and health disparities. He is the founder and Senior Scientist of the Health Communication Research Laboratory (HCRL), now with more than 24 years of continuous funding. Kreuter’s research seeks to increase the reach and effectiveness of health information to low-income and minority populations, and use information and technology to connect members of these groups to needed health services. He is currently leading three major studies to identify better ways to address social needs and improve health in these groups.
Kreuter served as associate dean for public health at the Brown School from 2013-2017, and for six years served on the Institute of Medicine’s Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice. In three independent bibliometric analyses, he has ranked in the top 1% of researchers in his field based on the number of highly cited papers.
