Student Work Opportunities
Brown School students have access to a variety of campus-based employment opportunities, fellowships and research assistantships. The majority of Brown School students work part-time while completing their graduate studies.
The Brown School offers many opportunities for part-time student employment, including Federal Work-Study eligible positions. Campus-based employment opportunities include roles in communications, information technology, business services, administrative positions, facilities and library services, among others.
Many Brown School faculty and research centers hire students to work as research assistants, offering outstanding opportunities to engage in groundbreaking research with faculty mentors.
The Washington University campus at-large also provides many opportunities for part-time employment. Campus departments such as Student Involvement and Leadership, Residential Life, the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, the Institute for Public Health, the Washington University Medical Center campus and the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, to name a few, actively seek Brown School students for graduate assistantships, graduate fellowships, research assistantships and other part-time employment opportunities.
Incoming students will have the opportunity to search for open part-time positions—as well as part-time work opportunities at local human service organizations—prior to the start of the fall semester through Symplicity, the Brown School’s career management system for students.
The Brown School Career Services Office also hosts job fairs for incoming students at Admitted Students Weekend (held in April) and during the Brown School Orientation Program (held in August) for students to explore these options.
